Refined Rustic - Kitchen

This kitchen was the inspiration for a wonderful, artist client from remote British Columbia, who shared with the V6B team ”I want a kitchen that is both comfortable to my local people, and impressive to New York art dealers”.  Color, Texture, Rustic Detailing, and the combination of modern and authentic antique elements, are keys to the appeal of this space.  A central component of the kitchen is  the   Rustic Knotty Cherry cabinetry, dressed with nutmeg stain and Van Dyke Brown highlights. Matte black paint is then rubbed through to an umber undercoat and distressed with “cracking”, “worm holing”, “bug tracking” and an overall “rub through” on all edges. This artistic finish process is both subtle and obvious.  The more you look, the more you see…like all good art. The design continues with enameled lava stone counters from France (Cuivre & Grey), a custom ledge stone hood fan, and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances & fixtures. A walk-in wine cellar is thoughtfully included in the kitchen design, featuring a lava stone tasting table and storage for over 150 bottles. The result is a kitchen with beautiful organic features, that is natural enough for everyone, and special enough for the most discerning client.
